History
Virginia's Annual Gospel Singing Convention began in 1966. It was founded by Rex C. Clifton, Frank Parks and M. A. Musslewhite. They were inspired by the original Chuck Wagon Gang.
The first year, the convention was held in the Norview High School, Norfolk, Va. The Rev. John Carraway served as the emcee.
The next three years, the convention was held in the Oscar Smith High School, Chesapeake, Va. Frank Parks was the emcee.
In 1970, the convention moved to Indian River High School, Chesapeake,Va. with Barry Dale as emcee.
Trophies awarded at the Singing Convention were sponsored by Tidewater churches and businessmen.

This is a non-stock and non-profit Christian Organization registered in the City of Chesapeake and the State of Virginia in 1967.
It is our prayer that each singer that sings during the convention is a Christian, for we feel one must possess the love of God in his/her heart to properly sing Christian songs.
It is also our prayer that each of you may receive a blessing through and by this Convention.
We feel those participating in the convention should act, live, dress and sing like a Christian.
